"The 50th Parallel" is coming

Hello Dear Suntrippers,

You've heard about it, you talked about it...for a long time we've been planning some sort of "celebration" compilation for our 50th release and we'd reserved the cat number SUNCD50 for it.

You probably wondered why we'd jumped from Morpic's SUNCD49 to E-Mantra's SUNCD51 and then released Denshi Danshi's SUNCD52 too. Well, a compilation is more work than an album and due to several constraints, including the Apsara Festival, we couldn't make it before the summer. We reworked the concept a bit and now we're happy with the result, we can announce it for the early days of December 2018: "The 50th Parallel" which will be officially opening our 15th year as a Goatrance label!

If you don't know what the title refers to, know we started Suntrip on July 14th 2004, in my car, during one of those mythical Shishu parties happening at the border of France and Belgium, which was  pretty easy for both Jos and I to reach. And it happens it was really close to the globe's 50th Parallel. We only realized it in September whilst looking for a title to SUNCD50. We couldn't miss that symbol :)

Let's cut to the chase: "The 50th Parallel" a 2-cd compilation with only the best modern goa-trance in all its facets!
We decided to dedicate the first cd to the fantastic world of sunshine and melodies! You like your goa-trance powerful, melodic, emotional and floating? Then our first cd will be your taste for sure! Modern goa-trance legends such as Khetzal, Crossing Mind and Cosmic Dimension are combined with the new talents Triquetra, Sykespico, Hada, Clementz and Median Project!

The second cd is something else: The moon started to shine and the atmosphere changed to something more ominous! Still powerful and somehow melodic, but with a darkish, more evil touch. Our definition of nightish music! Of course you will find our usual suspects here with Ka-Sol, Battle Buddhas or Morphic Resonance. But here also we found some amazing new talents such as Cosmic Serpent, Everything Turns, Proxeeus and Hada!

Tracklist:

1.1 KhetzaL - Garden of Nyagrodha Trees
1.2 Cosmic Dimension - Deviant Behaviour
1.3 Triquetra - Electronomic
1.4 Sykespico - Visit Earth
1.5 Hada - Emaginary
1.6 Crossing Mind - Over Time Frame
1.7 Clementz - Trilafon
1.8 Median Project - Life Line

2.1 Battle Of the Future Buddhas - Faster Than Light
2.2 Cosmic Serpent - Fractal Colors
2.3 Everything Turns - Darkness Falls
2.4 Proxeeus - ...But the Joke's On Mankind
2.5 Triquetra - Torturing The Machine
2.6 Morphic Resonance - Wonderland
2.7 Ka-Sol - Hysterical Mass
2.8 Hada - Magic Of Nature

So, we made sure that all lovers of different kinds of goa-trance will be happy when they press play! Just go and listen to the samples on the release page to conivince yourself!

Similarly to out 10 years birthday compilation "Ten Spins Around The Sun", it will come in a nice Ecopack packaging!

What else? Denshi Danshi - Brain Chemistry is still very fresh. Thanks for your amazing feedback for those true oldschoolers who made a stunning come-back to the Goa scene in the past years!

In our last post we mentionned a secret project for the first weeks of 2019. I still can't talk to you about that, we're working on it. And no matter what, the long awaited "Psylent Buddhi - Secrets Of The Atom" album will hit the shelves in the first quarter of 2019, followed by Celestial Intelligence's second album "Incendescent" !

Those albums are just incredible, firther proof that Suntrip and all its artists want to give you a blast to celebrate your 15th year!

Celebration means also partying, and we're working hard on a Suntrip 15ht Birthday Tour. Thanks to incredible promoters who believe in us, we are planning 15 dates at least! So you can expect to see Suntrippers somewhere near you in the coming months!

Oh and last but not least, we hope you saw that we already annoucned the Apsara Festival 2020 :) Brace yourselves, because we're baking a crazy line up! Don't hesiatet to RSVP on Facebook.

Denshi Danshi are back !!

Oh yes, Denshi Danshi are back! After the retrospective “Fluid Dynamics” album which contained 90’s tracks and a couple of new productions, the electric boys are proud to present “Brain Chemistry”: an album completely made in the past two years and packed with 80 minutes of pure energetic dancefloor material!

From underground parties in Israel to big festivals in Spain, and in our dear Apsara festival too, the French duo made a point of honour to blast the dancefloor. All those tracks were carefully battle-tested and refined in their studios to get the best experience possible!

Enough said, now is the time to warm up your sound system, buckle up, play the samples and get your copy!

Enjoy the music!

Huh, what ? What we're up to ? Yes sure, let's talk about that:

We're now working hard on our SUNCD50 compilation. We can disclose its name now: "The 50th Parallel". Although we always wanted to celebrate our 50th CD release, we came up with that title very recently as we realized we signed the creation of Suntrip very near that imaginary line :) Here's a WIP of the somewhat organic artwork:

Initially we wanted to have a 3xCD compil with some oldschool names on the third one. We already had some great tunes...but...we though they deserved a specific release (to come in 2019). So what we're going to release early December 2018, right in time for Xmas presents (!) is a 2xCD compilation with a pure Goa side and a Forest side! Artists range from long-time Suntrip partners like KhetzaL (yes!), Crossing Mind, Triquetra, Morphic Resonance, Battle of The future Buddhas, Ka-Sol, Sykespico, Cosmic Dimension on the one hand; and amazing dudes we've been longing to work with on the other hand: Proxeeus, Clementz, Median Project, Hada, Everything Turns, Cosmic Serpent.

We're at mastering stage and the artwork is nearly ready, so brace yourselves :)

We're also secretely working on a little surprise. Can't tell more for the moment...just know it's o.l.d.s.c.h.o.o.l !

Speaking about oldschool, we will be ready to release the mythic Psylent Buddhi album called "Secrets Of The Atom" in early 2019. Everyone, including the artist thought the tracks had been lost forever a long time ago. But someone had them and Psylent is happy to let us release them. It's a CRAZY album we're looking at, showing a mighty - almost supernatural - mastering of acid lines and massive climaxes. Just listen to Sunborn's Mix @ Apsara Festival, he played two of those tracks there :)

Oh while we're at it, maybe you saw that we're going to do it again: we announced Apsara Festival 2020 last week! As you guessed already it's going to be a on biennial basis. In the meantime you can let your kneecaps to rest...or...come with us to ZNA 2019 :)

Back on the release front, apart from the aforementioned oldschool compilation, Celestial Intelligence are nearing completion to their second album which will be called "Incandescent", and fantastic artists like Mindsphere, Triquetra, Cosmic Dimension, Filteria, Merr0w or even Ethereal are still tweaking their machines to make you vibrate in the coming couple of years.

See you soon!

Stapanii Timpului, the new masterpiece by E-Mantra

E-Mantra, the Romanian star of darkish acidic goa, is back with a 4th full album on Suntrip Records After a summer break (with our Apsara Festival) we are proud to present this masterpiece on our shop & bandcamp!

The album starts with "Rusalka", a huge dancefloor stormer with an enormous kick, followed by a darker pure acid 303-stormer: "Ghosts in the Mist". Slowly the album evolves in recognisable E-Mantra territories: darker acidic goa-trance with spooky melodies and massive bass. Tracks like "Ravenmocker", "At The Foothills of Kogaion" & "Typhon's Wrath" will destroy every trancefloor! During the last tracks we hear the first rays of sun again! Blisfull melodies accompanied by another dose of acid-sounds allover! To end this epic story E-Mantra shows his ability for downtempo trance again.

No doubt, when this album hits the speakers, it will make you dance, smile and go crazy! And if you like it, dont forget the other classics by E-Mantra released on Suntrip Records! As usual the mastering is done by Tim Schuldt, for an extra crispy result!

And that's not all, we also offer you new Suntrip T shirts and cds from other labels in our shop!  We are sure your trance needs will be fulfilled soon!

Thanks for coming to Apsara 2018 !

Dear Apsarans!

Finally wa recovered a bit from this very intense experience, which means you deserve our view on this first edition of Apsara Festival by Suntrip Records
The only right way to start is a BIG thank you to all that came to this festival and/or supported us! You created this unforgettable edition! The unique vibe, the huge amount of smiles, the mindbending music, the bouncing dancefloor from the first minute to the last and the family feeling was heartwarming and touching! For all of us, this was a unique and powerful experience which will echo in our souls until for eternity, and hopefully beyond!

https://www.facebook.com/isisra.art/videos/277698219495062/

 https://www.facebook.com/events/913399635492774/permalink/1134301586735910/

As most of you probably know, we already had loads of experience with parties & smaller festival, but a festival in a country like Romania is... something else! We won't go in to details but it wasn't always easy. This means we learned a lot as organisers and we are motivated to solve the (small?) issues we for future editions! (yes, there will be more Apsaras!) We will make sure there are more showers that work all day, we will make a dancefloor for 1000 people so there is enough shade for sure, we will put a lot of water next to the dancefloor next time and we will make sure the bar guys do what they promised to do! Except for these issues we believe everything went smooth! Because of all the good vibes and the fact we see goa-trance is alive and kicking we are already planning a next edition of Apsara... When will that be? In 2020! Yes, we will do it every 2 years. We want this to be unique, we dont want to compete with our brothers of Zna Gathering and also on a personal level combining such an event yearly with a full time job is too heavy.

But ok, lets go back to what happened last few weeks!  First of all, festivals dont appear out of nowhere! The amount of hours of work in such an event is huge, and because of that we want to thank our crew of builders! Without you this would NOT be possible! You might not get the recognition you guys deserve but believe us, you are in our hearts!!! Olivier BerckmoesLeon PaganFrancisco LopesLaura Nessa Telrùnya, Lorant, Paul, Apostol Viktor & Lisa!!  But a party is nothing without good music! And well, I think the reviews are clear, everyone LOVED the music! So our artists are damn heroes! All of you did what you promised... play only the best psychedelic, melodic, acidic or dirty goa-trance!  No full on, no progressive, no hi tech... only the purest goa!   Thanks to all of you for this right mindset and this professionalism! And good music needs good sound! The soundguys of Jamie Bell were fantastic. Function One is one thing, but a sound technician non stop with a pc next to the artist to make sure every sound is perfect? Unique! We never had this before! And what would we do without volunteers? Nothing! Thanking them individually would be too much, but you know how you are! Last but not least we want to thank the people that made sure we also had a visually interesting experience: Artrance Visionary CollectiveLunar Deco and Margot Schaefer on the party and more specially, Rodolpho Morais from Brasil for all the artwork! The T shirts, the flyers, the announcements, everything was done by him! To end this thank session we want to send our regards to the mayor and local authorities of Ludos and Sibiu! This support was vital to host the festival!

The following weeks and months you will see a lot of video and picture material of us and our photographers (Isis RaJonathan Jokke, Tomer,...) on the Apsara page below. Please share this as much as possible to attract more pure goa freaks for our next edition! Our goal is not to become a huge festival, but a cosy festival with the right people and right vibe, and all of you can help us with that! :) What happened here is now unfortunately history, but the future looks bright! Lets create an even more crazy edition (if possible?) and see you all in 2020!

It's the festival season, and not any festival!

Hello dear Suntrippers...and dear Apsarans :)

As you know we've been carefully baking the Apsara Festival to be held near Sibiu in Romania from August 8th to 12th.
If you still don't have your ticket, please rush on tickets.apsara-festival.com and come to listen to la crème de la crème of Goatrance !!!

In the meantime you can meet us at Boom in the coming days. Celestial Intelligence will be presenting their new album on the mainstage on Wednesday July 25th !

Oh yeah we may have a little surprise ready for those who will attend the Apsara Festival...a good Goa festival in Romania doesn't come without a good Goa allbum from Romania :) The new E-Mantra baby will hit the shelves around September 1st but Apsarans will probably be able to get their hands on it 3 weeks earlier.

If you're jealous, you can always go and listen to the samples.

This is the 4th album for E-Mantra, one of the most famous protagonists of modern goa-trance. For this new fairytale, called "Stapanii Timpului", he was inspired by the ominous legends of his homecountry, Romania. Mantralicious!

Get to know Ray Castle works with our new release: "Mystique Of The Metaverse"

One of the most distinguished trail-blazing legends of the nineties Goa movement, Ray Castle, has salvaged his DATs from a rhyzome time capsule stash containing artefacts from a truly revolutionary epoch.

And today we are releasing a retrospective over his most striking works with "Mystique Of The Metaverse".

Mystique Of The Metaverse is a pedigree selection of tracks resulting from mind-melding sessions at the apogee of Goa trance’s ascension as a multivalant style of dance music nuanced in metaphysics and cosmos and psyche. And they have been remastered by Tim Schuldt from the original DAT tapes!

DJ-ing in Goa, India, from the late eighties, Ray was able to translate the ultra word “Goa-state-of-mind” into this numinous music, seminal to psychedelic-intentioned dance music for wilderness settings.

With "Mystique Of The Metaverse" we hope you to get a glipse of what it used to be when the whole Goa movement started, in this period of crazy exhilarating boundless creativity !

Head to the release page or our bandcamp page and enjoy the music !!

Triquetrappy new year !

Hello Everyone,

The Suntrip Team wishes you a fantastic new year 2018 !

So much has happened in2017...OK let's do a small recap first: We started the year like we promised...

Mindsphere - Mental Triplex : Mindream (SUNCDLE06)
VA - Inti (SUNCD45)
K.O.B. - Identity Mash (SUNCD46)

...and finally...

Astral Projection - Let There Be Light EP (SUNCDEP02)

We hope you appreciated the ambient side of Mindsphere, and got a full taste of our new recruits, and new directions from known projects, with Triquetra, Sykespico, Ovnimoon, Morphic Resonance and Celestial Intelligence all featured in "Inti".

In turn, we're a little sad K.O.B. divised the audience more than Filteria. It's underrated in out opinion, as it contains fantastic darker Goa material. Re-listen to it, you'll see...

Naturally Astral Projection kept up to their promises and together with our dear remixers Filteria and Morphic Rsonance, delivered a highly acclaimed piece of joy and enlightenment ! Thanks for all the kind words we received, especially during the Conection Festival when it was just released.

After that, nothing... we'd promised a Ray Castle retrospective (Rhythmystec, Insectoid, Masaray...), the Triquetra album, a Connection compilation, the mysterious SUNCD50 compilation. What happened?

Well, first scheduling releases is not an exact science : Triquetra needed a few extra weeks. As for Ray, dubbing a 20+ year old DAT then shipping it from Australia to Europe, before extracting it can sure take some time. The Connection compilation just didn't happen: compiling takes time, organizing a festival too, and it gets complicated when both are at the same time...

...and that's exactly what we're doing right now as we announced the Apsara Festival to be held from August 8th to 12th in Ludos, Romania, on the ex-Transylvaliens land!

We're disclosing the lineup at a rate of 2 artists per week. You can expect a LOT of surprises in the next weeks :)

Oh by the way, presales are open and we're still in Phase 1 and we're applying a "Social" pricing for residents of countries facing complicated economic conditions. We have ambassadors too. Romania is a beautiful country, so why not come and tour once you've danced like there's no tomorrow ?

The most we'd organized before was a week-end event, that's another beast now and obviously a mountain of work when you have to learn and build everything from scratch. Fortunately some of the ex-Transylvaliens guys are helping us a great deal with...everything. Overall we'll do exactly what we've done since 2004: work hard and harder till your ears are filled with blissful music, till your muscles are propelled by energy waves, till happyness blows your mind !

Just a little background information here: the Apsara team is 5 people: Fabien, Jos "Anoebis", and Chris "Ouwe Gouwe" from Suntrip Records; Remus "Hase" and Theo "Mawski" from ex-Transylvaliens; without forgetting Rodolfo Morais, our graphic designer.. Jos and Chris have switched to a 80% work time, their remaining 20% being spent respectively on Communication/Promotion; and the company's legal things + budget/accountancy; while Fabien has decided to spend 100% of his time on Apsara's technical things, presales+ambassadors, plane tickets, flyers, on-site procedures, Suntrip's next releases of course, and a couple of unrelated projects. Remus and Theo, as native Romanians, are dealing with most of the logistics/crew. Everyone took part to the lineup selection! Since we live in 3 different countries, we're thoroughly using so-called "new technologies" to meet up and share documents. All this would have been impossible only 10 years ago.

Naturally we've created a company to make things legal, we have a realistic budget, we've met the mayor in Ludos who's happy to see a festival on his land again, our uptempo stage lineup is 95% confirmed, downtempo stage lineup 50% complete, deco confirmed (it's awesome), security too, toilets/showers agreement in progress, crews definition and procedures/shifts in progress, we're starting to select shops and volunteers, and the presales are ongoing. So you see we're damn serious and commited. Chris and Fabien are even set on learning Romanian!

We were pleased to receive support from a couple of other festival promoters. Hats off guys, thanks for believing in Goa music and in us!

Oh yes, another 2017 news you may have missed: I wrote above Chris Ouwe Gouwe is now part of Suntrip Records. We're three guys in the core team now (but we'd be nothign without the many great heplers we have). This was high time: he's one of the Old Is Gold / Trance Dimensions / Fractal Gate parties organizers, and long time Suntrip accountant and advisor, ultra square guy and hardcore Goa addict :) He will keep taking care -officially now- of 604 Bookings on top of what he used to do for us.

Suntrip is growing indeed. Not because we want it, because you want it: more music, more parties, more happiness and love mean more work, more responsibilites. It's a little scary as we're at a point where what used to be a night-time occupation is taking up a significant part of our lives (it's 3am as I'm writing this). Probably means we love it. Ah if only Suntrip could pay our rents...

Back to the releases now:

"Ecstatic Planet" is the debut album of one of the most talented goa-trance producers these days: Triquetra! These Belgian twins, Elric & Jurian, are blowing away the scene and played allover the world already, Israel and Japan included! Why? Because their music simply kicks ass! Acidic, uplifting but melodic for all lovers of old school goa-trance! We even heard people making a link with old Cosmosis... Can you handle that? :)

The journey starts with a melodic track, which is supposed to be the Gate to Happiness! Good, because indeed, happiness is imminent: The following tracks are pure blissfull acidic old school goa-trance! A good portion of TB303 & acid sounds, uplifting melodies, old school kicks and an interesting rhythm section! With "Gargantuan Tribes" they take a break from the madness, and show their other side: tribal trance with live didgeridoo and drums! The second part of the album evolves to more typical melodic goa-trance for the morning hours! Many dancefloors already exploded with this music, we hope you will too!

Release date is Janury 22nd, and if you can't hold your breath until then, you better get your hands on the samples on the release page !

Aaah this one is a jewel...One of the most distinguished trail-blazing legends of the nineties Goa movement, Ray Castle, has salvaged his DATs from a rhyzome time capsule stash containing artefacts from a truly revolutionary epoch.

"Mystique Of The Metaverse" is a pedigree selection of tracks resulting from mind-melding sessions at the apogee of Goa trance’s ascension as a multi valiant style of dance music nuanced in metaphysics and cosmos and psyche.

Game changer, Rhthmystec, is testimony to his long-term relationship with Nick Taylor and what was happening in Byron Bay in the mid-nineties.

An artistic catalyser in Japan from the late eighties, he made parties and collaboratively conjured tracks. Time Traveller Of Trance was channeled with Masayuki Kurihara above his family restaurant, to become a Goa masterpiece, now reanimated with JoyfullNative’s stellar remix.

In the Roland robot kingdom, under the spell the far East, he had visions of a “neuro tribe” with Susumu Yokota and Take Tokuda, out of which came the Sonic Sufi sessions.

Deep in the Australian bush, together with Nick Spacetree and Mark Turner, he engaged in rituals and field recordings in the company of disembodied spirits and extra-terrestrials. These paranormal, and out of the body, experiences are Insectoid.

In the great Suntrip mixup tradition, this SUNCD47 will be released on February 14th, after Triquetra's SUNCD48, and guess what ? I just made the samples available on the release page.

Still here ?
OK.
Morphic Resonance's second album, codename SUNCD49 is next. It's almost ready and it will kick your ass in your bedroom as surely as it did at Connection. Expect the massage in April.

Then we have no other choice but to release our "mythic" SUNCD50 compilation during spring before Apsara :)
The concept:

  • CD1: Sunshine Goa
  • CD2: Darker Goa
  • CD3: <surprise-surprise>

We're already selecting tracks but don't hesitate to submit some more promos!

We seriously have no idea of what we'll release in the second semester, we just know several other artists are still working on their new albums: Celestial Intelligence (2nd album), Cosmic Dimension (2nd album), Merr0w (2nd album "Odysseus"), Mindsphere (the 3rd "Mental Triplex")... We sure hope the prospect of seeing you dance at Apsara will give them extra motivation !!!!

Have a sweet sweet year 2018 and see you on the dancefloor!
